Brier Creek rises ten miles east of Olney in northeast Young County (at 33°22' N, 98°36' W) and flows north for six miles to its mouth on the West Fork of Curtis Creek, twelve miles southeast of Archer City in southeast Archer County (at 33°26' N, 98°34' W). Turkey Springs was probably located on the creek in Young County. The springs were an important water source in the 1850s but have been dry for a considerable time. The creek's drainage area encompasses ranch and oil-field lands surfaced by shallow, stony clay and sandy loams in which grow oak, mesquite, and grasses.
