Brooks Creek, sometimes called Lick Creek, rises four miles north of Bassett in southern Bowie County (at 33°23' N, 94°32' W) and runs south for eleven miles to its mouth on Anderson Creek, twelve miles south of New Boston (at 33°18' N, 94°26' W). It is intermittent in its upper reaches. The creek traverses an area of loamy soils upstream and clayey soils downstream. The area is for the most part heavily wooded, predominantly with hardwoods.
