Brushy Creek (Madison County)

Brushy Creek rises two miles southeast of Normangee in northwestern Madison County (at 31°01' N, 96°05' W) and runs southeast for eight miles to its mouth on Caney Creek (at 30°59' N, 95°58' W). It crosses gently sloping to nearly level terrain surfaced by sandy loam that supports pecan, elm, water oak, hackberry, post oak, and black hickory trees on the banks. Settlement in the vicinity of the stream began during the mid-nineteenth century. Laceola is on the south bank of the lower creek.
