Buck Hill is thirty-two miles north of Terlingua in west central Brewster County (at 29°46' N, 103°36' W). Its summit, with an elevation of 4,184 feet above sea level, rises 280 feet above State Highway 118, a mile to the east. Buck Hill is a small, faulted, sill-like intrusion of igneous rock. Its shallow, stony soils support scrub brush and grasses.
