Bufford Creek

Bufford Creek rises in two branches in north central Stephens County. Its West Fork rises four miles northeast of Breckenridge (at 32°48' N, 98°50' W) and flows north for almost seven miles; its East Fork rises six miles northeast of Breckenridge (at 32°49' N, 98°49' W) and flows north for 6½ miles. The branches meet just south of the Yellow Fork Community (at 32°53' N, 98°50' W). The consolidated creek flows north for 3½ miles to its mouth on the Clear Fork of the Brazos River, west of Farm Road 701 (at 32°55' N, 98°49' W). It crosses an area of rolling hills surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support scrub brush, mesquite, cacti, and grasses. Toward the creek's mouth the terrain features rugged hills and scarps surfaced by shallow, stony, sandy loams that support post oak, grasses, and chaparral.
