Calf Creek rises three miles northeast of Sherman in east central Grayson County (at 33°41' N, 96°34' W) and runs southeast for six miles to its mouth on Choctaw Creek, a mile southwest of Penland (at 33°40' N, 96°28' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper and middle reaches. It crosses rolling prairie with locally steep slopes, surfaced by deep to shallow expansive clays and clay loams that support oak, juniper, and various grasses. The area has served as range and crop land.
