Camp Creek rises 3½ miles southwest of Bono in southwestern Johnson County (at 32°19' N, 97°33' W) and runs south and then southwest 9½ miles to its mouth on the Brazos River, 1½ miles north of Highland (at 32°11' N, 97°34' W). The creek is intermittent in its upper reaches and runs through Cleburne State Park in its middle reaches. Freeland is on its lower banks 1½ miles north of its mouth. The surrounding variable terrain is surfaced by shallow, stony clay loams that support juniper and oak trees, chaparral, cacti, and grasses.
