Cane Creek rises in a pool two miles west of Brookston in western Lamar County (at 33°37' N, 95°44' W) and runs south for eleven miles through eastern Roxton to its mouth on the North Sulphur River, just north of the Delta county line and two miles north of Crossroads (at 33°29' N, 95°42' W). It is intermittent at its headwaters. The creek crosses flat to rolling terrain surfaced by black clay that forms deep cracks when dry. Local vegetation includes grasses, junipers, and oaks. Low-lying floodplains near the creek's mouth are surfaced by sand and gravel.
