Caney Creek rises 9½ miles northwest of Linden in western Cass County (at 33°05' N, 94°29' W) and runs northwest for three miles to its mouth on Kelley Creek, eight miles northeast of Hughes Springs (at 33°05' N, 94°32' W). It is intermittent in its upper reaches. The stream crosses gently undulating to rolling terrain surfaced by sandy loam that supports pines and various hardwoods.
