Caney Creek rises two miles northwest of Stubbs in southwestern Kaufman County (at 32°26' N, 96°19' W) and runs south for ten miles to its mouth on the Trinity River, two miles south of the Kaufman-Henderson county line (at 32°18' N, 96°18' W). It crosses flat to rolling terrain surfaced by sandy and clay loams that support hardwoods and grasses. Throughout most of the county's history the Caney Creek area has been used as range and crop land.
