Castle Peak is two miles southeast of Moline in northern Lampasas County (at 31°21' N, 98°18' W). At an elevation of 1,531 feet above sea level, its summit rises 200 feet above nearby Ranch Road 1047. The peak stands in an area of the Grand Prairies, where steep to moderately sloping hills are surfaced by shallow, stony, sandy and clay loams that support grasses, live oak, mesquite, and juniper.
