Castleman Creek rises two miles west of Hewitt in south central McLennan County (at 31°28' N, 97°14' W) and runs southeast for seventeen miles to its mouth on the Brazos River, a mile north of the Falls county line (at 31°25' N, 97°01' W). The surrounding flat to rolling prairie with locally steep slopes is surfaced by expansive clays and clay loams that support juniper, oak, mesquite, and grasses in the upper and middle reaches of the creek and water-tolerant hardwoods and conifers in the lower reaches.
