Cat Creek rises four miles southeast of Weeks Settlement in northwest Newton County (at 31°03' N, 93°48' W) and runs southeast for 10½ miles to its mouth on Yellow Bayou, three miles southwest of Burkeville (at 30°58' N, 93°41' W). It flows through the heavily forested areas typical of Newton County.
