Cathedral Mountain (Brewster County)

Cathedral Mountain is ten miles northwest of Marathon in northern Brewster County (at 30°19' N, 103°21' W). With an elevation of 6,220 feet above sea level, it rises some 1,800 feet above U.S. Highway 90, four miles southwest. Cathedral Mountain is a ridge of tilted limestone roughly 250 million years old. It is the southern tip of the Glass Mountains. Its shallow, stony soils support live oak, piñon, juniper, and grasses.
