Cavasso Creek rises a mile south of Zapata Lake in southeastern Refugio County (at 28°17' N, 97°04' W) and runs southeast fourteen miles across Aransas County to its mouth on St. Charles Bay (at 28°12' N, 96°59' W). The surrounding flat to rolling prairie is surfaced by calcareous expansive clay that supports hardwoods, pines, and numerous prairie grasses.
