Cedar Creek rises in a small stock tank eight miles north of La Grange in north central Fayette County (at 30°01' N, 96°49' W) and runs west for 6½ miles to its mouth on Rabbs Creek, a mile from the Colorado River (at 30°00' N, 96°55' W). The surrounding flat to rolling terrain is surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support dense thickets of cedar mixed with oak and yaupon.
