Cedar Creek rises in south central Freestone County (at 31°36' N, 96°09' W) and runs northeast for 5½ miles to its mouth on Upper Keechi Creek, two miles south of Mount Zion (at 31°39' N, 96°07' W). It crosses terrain varying from rolling prairie to flat with local shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support hardwoods, pines, conifers, and grasses. The area is used primarily as dry cropland and forest.
