Cedar Creek rises four miles south of Milano in southeastern Milam County (at 30°39' N, 96°52' W) and runs southeast for twenty-three miles to its mouth on the Brazos River, at the Burleson-Brazos county line fifteen miles northeast of Caldwell (at 30°38' N, 96°36' W). The area terrain is generally flat to rolling, with some local shallow depressions, and is surfaced by dark, calcareous clays and sandy loams that support mesquite, cacti, and grasses in the creek's upper reaches and water-tolerant hardwoods and conifers near its mouth.
