Cedar Creek, also known as Cedar Arroyo, rises two miles south of U.S. Highway 90 in southeastern Terrell County (at 29°55' N, 101°59' W) and runs southeast for nine miles to its mouth on Palma Canyon, 1½ miles south of U.S. Highway 90 (at 29°53' N, 101°51' W). It traverses an area characterized by chalk deposits on rolling prairies. Soils in the area are generally dark, calcareous stony clays and clay loams that support oaks, junipers, and grasses.
