Cedar Creek rises midway between Burton and Carmine in western Washington County (at 30°10' N, 96°38' W) and runs north to form the western boundary between Lee and Washington counties, traveling about fifteen miles before reaching its mouth on Somerville Lake (at 30°18' N, 96°38' W). Its tributaries include Turkey, Black, and Tracy creeks. The stream traverses mostly level terrain surfaced with clay soils that support grasses and intermittent post oak woods.
