Cedar Hollow begins east of Red Rock in southwestern Bastrop County (at 29°58' N, 97°25' W) and runs northwest to a point just west of Rockne (at 30°01' N, 97°27' W). Its lower reaches are known as Lower Cedar Valley. The local rolling prairie is surfaced by clay loams that support post oak woods.
