Double Mountain, about eleven miles south of Breckenridge in southern Stephens County (at 32°35' N, 98°55' W), has an elevation of 1,580 feet above sea level. It rises in an area of rolling hills surfaced by clay and sandy loams, and the vegetation on its slopes includes mesquite, scrub brush, cacti, and grasses. The mountain's name comes from the fact that at a distance it appears to be two mountains.

The following, adapted from the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition, is the preferred citation for this entry.
