Fandango Creek rises half a mile southeast of Escobas Ranch in eastern Zapata County (at 27°02' N, 98°59' W) and runs southwest for six miles to its mouth on Arroyo Carrizales, half a mile southwest of La Cabrada Tank (at 26°57' N, 99°03' W). The stream traverses terrain that varies from low-rolling hills and prairies to flat land with locally active dune blowout areas. Local soils include clay and sandy loams and sands that support grasses, some mesquite, and chaparral.
