Robert Holman Graham, doctor and Confederate infantry officer, was born in Antauga County, Alabama around 1830, the son of Robert Holman and Jennette (Smith) Graham. Robert attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the years before the Civil War, Robert and his brother Dr. Leonidas J. Graham settled in Rusk County and practiced medicine. Once the war began, Graham first joined the Seventh Texas Infantry and was made a sergeant major on November 10, 1861. This regiment was captured at Fort Donelson during the February 1862 siege, but Graham managed to escape. He returned to Texas to raise troops for the Nineteenth Texas Infantry. Graham was made captain of Company I in 1862. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel but faced with a court martial, resigned.
Graham probably died ca. 1863–70, either in Texas or in Santa Rosa County, Florida, where his wife Susan McWherter resided in 1870.
