Cornelius W. Johnson, black painter and commercial artist, was born in Texas in 1905. He studied at Mechanical Arts High School in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the Art Institute of Chicago, and at the Art Students League in New York City. He exhibited at the Regal Theater in Chicago, 1931; at the South Center Department Store, Chicago, 1932; and the Harmon Foundation, 1933. His best known work is titled "My Girl".
