Lake Crook
Lake Crook is an artificial lake on Pine Creek three miles north of Paris in central Lamar County (at 33°44' N, 95°34' W). It was constructed in 1923 and has a capacity of 9,960 acre-feet and a surface area of 1,226 acres at the spillway crest elevation of 476 feet above mean sea level. The drainage area above the dam is fifty-two square miles. The surrounding countryside is flat to rolling and is surfaced by dark, calcareous clays that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
