Quarry Creek rises a quarter mile south of Norton in west central Runnels County (at 31°52' N, 100°08' W) and flows southeast for thirteen miles before emptying into Valley Creek a mile west of Farm Road 2111 and six miles west of Ballinger (at 31°45' N, 100°02' W). Water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses grow beside the stream. The surrounding terrain is flat and marked with locally shallow depressions; the soils are expansive clays.
