Roberts, Noel F. (unknown–unknown)

Noel F. Roberts, one of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists, was in Texas as early as April 20, 1824, when he voted in the election at San Felipe that chose the Baron de Bastrop as Texas delegate to the convention of Coahuila and Texas. He was probably the brother of William Roberts, who received a league in Brazoria County on July 8, 1824, and of Andrew Roberts, who received a league adjoining the property of Noel F. Roberts in Fort Bend County. In May 1824 David Bright and his wife, Judy, agreed that their daughter, Betsy, might marry Noel Roberts, possibly a son of Noel F. Roberts. On July 15, 1824, Roberts received title to 1¼ sitios of land now in Fort Bend County. The census of March 1826 lists him as a widower, aged between forty and fifty. His household included three sons, a daughter, and four slaves.

On September 13, 1833, attorney William Barret Travis issued a subpoena for an N. F. Roberts. In 1840 a Noel F. Roberts appeared before the state Land Commission to claim the remainder of his land grant. A witness swore that he had lived in Texas before 1836 and that he was married. The Austin County census for 1840 lists a Noel F. Roberts, who declared for tax purposes title to 2,222 acres of land, one slave, and forty-five cattle.
