Sardis is on Farm Road 1657 ten miles west of Roby in central Fisher County. At one time it had a school, which was merged with the Roby school district in 1924. As early as the 1890s there was a Baptist church housed in the school. The church was moved to its own site in 1898, when a building was constructed of lumber hauled in from Sweetwater. This church later became one of two strong rural churches in the county. A cemetery is in the adjacent churchyard. The population of Sardis was reported as twelve in 1980 and 1990.
