Trice, a community on the Beaumont and Great Northern line ten miles southeast of Trinity in south central Trinity County, was founded around 1900. In 1907 the Trinity County Star reported that the settlement had a school, a general store, a large sawmill operated by the McClanahan brothers, and a small hospital for lumber-company employees. The community apparently declined around the time of World War I, and by the 1930s it was no longer shown on highway maps.
