Waterwood is a resort community located off U.S. Highway 190 on the northwestern shore of Lake Livingston, about twenty-seven miles northeast of Huntsville in northern San Jacinto County. This 8,000-acre development began in 1972. In October 1974 the Waterwood National Country Club, built by Horizon Properties Corporation, opened.
