SPRING VALLEY, TEXAS (Harris County). Spring Valley, an incorporated residential community, is located north of Interstate Highway 10 and U.S. Highway 90 and south of the site of former Spring Branch at the edge of the Houston area in west central Harris County. In 1905 the local white school had forty-nine pupils and one teacher, and the local black school twenty students and one teacher. State highway maps in 1936 showed a church and cemetery at the townsite. The town, which first comprised an area of 1½ square miles, was incorporated by 1955. In 1982 Spring Branch High School was part of the community, and the Memorial Hall and Spring Branch elementary schools were nearby. Spring Valley had a population of 3,004 and two businesses in 1960 and 3,800 residents in 1976. In 1990 the population was 3,392. The population was 3,611 in 2000.
