BIG SANDY CREEK (Stephens County). Big Sandy Creek begins sixteen miles southwest of Breckenridge in southwest Stephens County (at 32°32' N, 98°57' W) and extends north for twenty-one miles to its mouth on Hubbard Creek Reservoir, six miles northwest of Breckenridge (at 32°49' N, 98°58' W). It crosses flat terrain with local shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loam that supports water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
