CANEY CREEK (Madison County). Caney Creek rises in far northern Madison County (at 31°05' N, 95°52' W) and runs northeast for seven miles to its mouth on Boggy Creek in southeastern Leon County (at 31°09' N, 95°50' W). It traverses gently sloping to nearly level terrain surfaced by sands and loams that support elm, pecan, water oak, post oak, hackberry, and black hickory along its banks. Settlement in the vicinity began in the mid-1800s. The Spillers Store community is located on the creek's west bank.
