COON CREEK (HENDERSON COUNTY)
COON CREEK (Henderson County). Coon Creek, once known as Otter Creek, rises just west of Athens in central Henderson County (at 32°13' N, 95°50' W) and runs southwest for seventeen miles to its mouth on Catfish Creek, four miles west of Springfield in northwestern Anderson County (at 31°59' N, 95°51' W). The surrounding flat to rolling terrain is surfaced by sandy and clay loams that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
