COTTONWOOD CREEK (GILLESPIE COUNTY)
COTTONWOOD CREEK (Gillespie County). Cottonwood Creek rises in north central Gillespie County (at 30°29' N, 98°55' W) and runs north for four miles to its mouth on Hickory Creek, at the foot of Putnam Mountain three miles southwest of the town of Prairie Mountain in Llano County (at 30°33' N, 98°55' W). The creek traverses an area of the Llano basin with flat to rolling terrain, locally dissected and covered by sandy and clay loams. Local vegetation consists primarily of open stands of live oak and mesquite.
