HOUSE MOUNTAIN BRANCH
HOUSE MOUNTAIN BRANCH. House Mountain Branch rises near the foot of House Mountain, 2½ miles northwest of the town of Prairie Mountain in southwestern Llano County (at 30°35' N, 98°55' W) and runs north for 3½ miles to its mouth on Hickory Creek, 6½ miles southeast of Castell (at 30°38' N, 98°54' W). It traverses an area of the Llano basin characterized by flat terrain with local dissections and surfaced by soils ranging from sandy to clayey loams. Open stands of live oak and mesquite grow in the area.
