HORSE CREEK (CHEROKEE COUNTY)
HORSE CREEK (Cherokee County). Horse Creek rises in the northeast corner of Rusk in central Cherokee County (at 31°49' N, 95°08' W) and runs northeast for seven miles to its mouth on Mud Creek, two miles southeast of Ponta (at 31°53' N, 95°02' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. It crosses flat to gently rolling terrain surfaced by clay and sandy loam that supports grasses and mixed hardwoods and pines.
