MUSTANG BRANCH (Hays County). Mustang Branch rises four miles northwest of Kyle in eastern Hays County (at 30°02' N, 97°56' W). Intermittent in its upper reaches, the stream follows a generally northeasterly course for 8½ miles to its mouth on Onion Creek, two miles southwest of Buda (at 30°04' N, 97°52' W). Live oak and Ashe juniper trees are characteristic of the vegetation found in the limestone and clay soils through which the stream flows.
