PEN CREEK. Pen Creek rises two miles west of Pleasant Hill in northern Nacogdoches County (at 31°48' N, 94°43' W) and runs northwest for five miles to its mouth on Beech Creek, two miles west of Union Springs (at 31°50' N, 94°44' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. It traverses flat terrain with local shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loams that along the creek bank support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
