PEVELER CREEK (STEPHENS COUNTY)
PEVELER CREEK (Stephens County). Peveler Creek rises at State Highway 67 north of Ivan in northeastern Stephens County (32°54' N, 98°43' W) and flows north six miles, across the Chicago-Rock Island line, into the Clear Fork of the Brazos River, near Eliasville in south central Young County (at 32°58' N, 98°44' W). The stream, which was named for a family who bought land on the creek in 1859, flows through rugged hills and scarps where post oak, grasses, and chaparral cover shallow, stony sandy loam soils.
