POOL BRANCH (BURNET COUNTY)

POOL BRANCH (Burnet County). Pool Branch rises eight miles southwest of Briggs in northeast central Burnet County (at 30°52' N, 98°04' W). The stream, intermittent in its upper reaches, flows southeast for four miles to its mouth on the North Fork of the San Gabriel River, a half mile west of Joppa (at 30°50' N, 98°02' W). The surrounding terrain is characterized by steep slopes and benches; the soils are shallow clay loams; and the vegetation consists primarily of juniper, live oak, mesquite, and grasses.
