POST OAK CREEK (Callahan County). Post Oak Creek rises (at 32°26' N, 99°10' W) in northeastern Callahan County about four miles north of Putnam and runs south for about fifteen miles before emptying into Deep Creek (at 32°35' N, 99°09' W) in southeastern Shackelford County two miles north of Moran. The stream runs through an area of steep to moderately sloping hills with shallow stony clay and sandy loam soils that support oak, mesquite, and grasses.
