ROUGH CREEK (Erath County). Rough Creek rises one-half mile southeast of Chalk Mountain in eastern Erath County (at 32°10' N, 97°55' W) and runs northeast for nine miles to its mouth on the Paluxy River, two miles southeast of Paluxy in Somervell County (at 32°15' N, 97°52' W). It traverses a variable topography surfaced by shallow, stony clay loams that support various grasses, chaparral, and cacti. Juniper and oak trees are found along the stream's banks. Historically the area has been used as range and cropland.
