STAMPEDE CREEK (CORYELL COUNTY)
STAMPEDE CREEK (Coryell County). Stampede Creek rises ten miles southwest of Gatesville in south central Coryell County (at 31°19' N, 97°50' W) and runs south for six miles to its mouth on Cowhouse Creek, eight miles northwest of Copperas Cove (at 31°14' N, 97°50' W). The surrounding rolling prairie has local steep slopes and benches and is surfaced by shallow, stony clay loams that support oak, juniper, mesquite, and grasses.
