TURNPIKE CREEK. Turnpike Creek rises a mile west of Craft in central Cherokee County (at 31°55' N, 95°15' W) and runs northeast for nine miles to its mouth on Mud Creek, 2½ miles northwest of Ponta (at 31°55' N, 95°07' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. It runs through flat to gently rolling country surfaced by clay and sandy loam that supports grasses and mixed hardwoods and pines.
