CHICKEN BAYOU. Chicken Bayou rises seven miles northwest of Center in western Shelby County (at 31°50' N, 94°17' W) and runs northeast for nine miles to its mouth on Flat Fork Creek (at 31°53' N, 94°10' W). The surrounding terrain varies from nearly level to moderately steep and is surfaced by sandy and clay loam that supports pine and hardwood forests.
