ANTELOPE HILLS. The Antelope Hills are located five miles west of Fort Griffin State Historic Site in northern Shackelford County (at 32°56' N, 99 °23' W) and may take their name from nearby Antelope Creek. With an elevation of 1,748 feet they rise ninety-eight feet above the surrounding terrain. The area is marked by steep slopes and benches surfaced by shallow clay loam that supports juniper, live oak, mesquite, and grasses.
