CROWN MOUNTAIN. Crown Mountain is in Big Bend National Park five miles southwest of Panther Junction in south central Brewster County (at 29°16' N, 103°16' W). With an elevation of 7,010 feet above sea level, it rises 1,760 feet above the Basin Ranger Station, two miles northwest. The shallow, stony topsoil of the mountain supports Douglas fir, aspen, Arizona cypress, maple, ponderosa pine, and madrone.
