DOGIE MOUNTAIN. Dogie Mountain is four miles northeast of the Big Bend National Park Maverick Ranger Station in southwestern Brewster County (at 29°21' N, 103°28' W). With an elevation of 3,689 feet above sea level, it rises 940 feet above the ranger station. The mountain, which straddles the park's northwestern boundary, is a volcanic intrusion with shallow, stony soils that support live oak, piñon, juniper, and grasses.
